The 2023 Hockey Hall of Fame Inductees were revealed earlier today, and with the announcement came a disappointing yet expected result. Once again, NHL legend and trailblazer, Alexander Mogilny, was not voted into the Hockey Hall of Fame (HHoF).

Mogilny Omitted From HHoF

Alex Mogilny is one of the best Russian players to ever graze an NHL ice surface. The retired sniper scored 1,000 points in 990 games, achieving a rare scoring pace of over a point per game.

His journey to the NHL involved defecting from the Soviet Union, a risk few dared to take at the time. He paved the way for other Russian players to play in the NHL, and if he won't be elected as a player, he should be elected as a builder.

Uncertain Future For Russians

With the news that Mogilny would once again not be elected into the HHoF, we learned some disappointing new information regarding the status of Russian players and the HHoF.

It looks like we shouldn't expect to see any Russian players elected into the HHoF anytime soon.

While the source in question is not an elector, but rather a former NHL player, the info is still likely true. This is incredibly sad, as next year's first-time eligibles include Russian stars Pavel Datsyuk and Ilya Kovalchuk.

Will we ever see Mogilny get his day in the Hall?
