The Toronto Maple Leafs are nearing a massive selling in it's ownership

Leafs ownership selling share of company

MLSE Chairman Larry Tanenbaum is nearing a selling of his share of the company for a reported enterprise value of $8B, according to Sportico.

Tanenbaum, who through MLSE through Kilmer Sports, owns a 25% stake in the Maple Leafs, as well as stakes in other Toronto sports teams including the NBA's Toronto Raptors, Toronto FC of MLS & the CFL's Toronto Argonauts, will be selling off his stake to Canadian Pension fund OMERS.

The sale, pending final approval, will give OMERS the shares from MLSE, which according to Sportico, is a record estimated value for a sports franchise. It's unclear if the entire stake is being sold, or a partial amount, but it's a major change for the Leafs, who could have new ownership making the calls.
