Former Bruins Player Reveals He Was Betrayed by the Team
A former Bruin has had his NHL career ended in a terrible fashion and he has called the Bruins out for betraying him.
Defenseman Anton Stralman has been in the NHL for a long time. Spending the majority of his career with the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers after being drafted by the Maple Leafs in 2005. Stralman has displayed an ability to shut down other teams top players and he was looking to finally clinch his first Stanley Cup last year.
After signing a PTO with the Bruins, Stralman signed a contract with the team under the impression he would be a valued member of their defensive core but this could have not been further from the truth.
In a recent interview, Stralman reveals how he was betrayed by the Bruins.
"They did as they probably thought at the beginning, it became a loan for a few months. Then they got rid of me in the AHL, you feel betrayed, that was not what we were talking about. It's just an example of how it can be. Then I wanted to join a team that had a chance to win," revealed Stralman. "I wanted a chance to compete for a spot on a team. I made it pretty clear that I wasn't going to be a loan player."
It is clear that the impression Stralman had of what he would be versus what he actually was in the Bruins organization was quite different. Last season left a bad taste in Stralman's mouth. One so bad that it changed the trajectory of his hockey career.
What's Next For Stralman
Stralman's lengthy NHL career appears to have come to an end but that does not mean his hockey career is over.
Stralman has signed a contract with HV71 of the SHL in hopes of playing more and in his home nation of Sweden.
He will look to help them to a successful season and finish his hockey career off in his home nation.
