State Governor Making a Push to Bring Back a Legendary NHL Team

Many cities have had their names thrown around in the last few days as potential relocation destinations for the Coyotes. One city in particular has been largely omitted from discussions, but it now looks like they're throwing themselves in the mix to land the struggling franchise.

Coyotes to Hartford?

Anyone miss the Whalers? They could be on their way back to the NHL.

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont has recently expressed a desire to bring back an NHL franchise to his state, and looks to be eying the struggling Coyotes. He spoke about the topic in an interview recently, and seemed eager to get talks going.

«This is a great hockey state and a great hockey town, it's evidenced by the passion we have for the Whalers going back years — still one of the best selling jerseys. I think we can guarantee them a very strong market right here, and a government that's ready to come and be their partner.»

I don't think there's any doubt that Connecticut would be a better market than Arizona, and it would be lots of fun to see an old franchise revived. Whether or not the NHL wants to bring back hockey in Hartford, or if the state can afford it, is another question.

Hartford would have to beat out other top cities such as Salt Lake City, Houston, Kansas City, and maybe even Quebec City, but it would be cool to see!
