The Toronto Maple Leafs are pushing their way through the injury slog early this season, with several of their starting defensemen out with injuries. With Mark Giordano and Timothy Liljegren slowly working their way back into the lineup, the Leafs will still need to find a replacement for John Klingberg, who will be out for the remainder of the season.
Now, Chris Johnston has revealed that the Leafs despite being the most desperate team for a defenseman, teams will have a high price this early in the season.
The issue is, though, is that as the season progresses, teams that believe they are contenders will start to come out of the woodwork trying to acquire a defenseman. This could result in a bidding war that the Leafs don't want to get in.
