Devils Lose Hamilton To A Major Injury
Dougie Hamilton suffered a significant injury late in November. After further testing, it was announced that Hamilton would be out indefinitely with a torn pectoral muscle.
With Hamilton out the Devils called up top prospect Simon Nemec. While Nemec has been showing great flashes in the games he has played reports are swirling the Devils are looking for an upgrade.
Insider Bombshell Reveals Devils Are Looking To Replace Hamilton

Today Elliotte Friedman spoke about the New Jersey Devils situation. He has heard rumblings that the Devils will be looking to replace Dougie Hamilton with an upgrade while he is out of the lineup. Friedman mentioned two players that could make sense.
Friedman on TJMS says Devils don't know how long Hamilton is out for so they could have interest in a point getter d-man, Friedman mentioned Barrie and DeAngelo are out there.
Both Tyson Barrie and Tony DeAngelo are highly offensive players. Barrie recently requested a trade from the Nashville Predators after his time there has not gone well.
According to Pierre LeBrun, the market is soft for both players and they could be bargain pickups if the Devils are willing to make a 'hockey trade' and not make the other team take on salary.
With all of this information provided it seems as though the New Jersey Devils could find themselves with a new puck-moving veteran defenseman in the coming weeks.
