Joseph Woll On Mental Toughness And Feeling Ready To Take That Next Step In Toronto

During the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, Joseph Woll, a promising goaltender prospect for the Toronto Maple Leafs, found himself in the limelight.

When the Leafs' starter, Ilya Samsonov, was injured during the third game against the Florida Panthers and was unable to complete the series, the weight of the team fell on the 24-year-old's shoulders.

Woll Impressive During Playoffs

Considering the circumstances, Woll performed admirably, despite the Leafs losing the series in five games to the Panthers when Nick Cousins scored the
decisive goal.

Woll Has His Eye On Being The Number One

Recently, Woll joined the host of "Leafs Morning Take," Nick Alberga, for an interview and expressed his readiness to progress in his career and become a full-time NHL goalie.

«Yeah, I believe that. You know, that's something I've worked hard to be able to believe and to have faith in. Understanding my ability and how much work I put into the mental part of the game and the physical part on the ice, I have all the confidence in the world in myself. The goal is to be with the Leafs and to help them win a Stanley Cup, so I'm going to continue to pursue that goal.»

In a candid conversation with Nick Alberga and co-host Jay Rosehill, Woll disclosed his memorable playoff experiences and his struggles with mental health, as well as past failures in his career. Woll appears to be in a better place now and is heading into the next season with confidence.

Woll was drafted by the Leafs back in 2016 in the third round and has since ascended the ranks from the Leafs' AHL affiliate team, the Toronto Marlies. Many, including Woll himself, view him as the next number one goaltender in Toronto.
