The Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs have gotten together on a trade, as Brandon Carlo has been shipped from Boston to Toronto.

A pair of Original Six rivals have hooked up with one another on trade deadline day for a deal of significance.
The Maple Leafs are acquiring defenseman Brandon Carlo from the Boston Bruins, as Toronto was hoping to beef up their blue line in anticipation of making a deep postseason run.
Right now, the full return for Carlo hasn't been revealed; it's believed that Toronto could be including Fraser Minten in return.
UPDATE: It has been confirmed that Fraser Minten is in fact part of the trade that the Leafs are sending back to the Bruins.
The trade also has a third component as the Pittsburgh Penguins are involved and are acquiring both Conor Timmins and Connor Dewar from Toronto.
Minten was taken with the 38th pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft; he's played in 19 games this year, scoring 4 points (2G, 2A).
Trading Carlo is the latest move from the Bruins, who shocked fans everywhere by trading captain Brad Marchand to the divisional foe Florida Panthers as well as shipping Charlie Coyle to the Colorado Avalanche.
His best year came in 2019-20 with 19 points (4G, 15A).
Carlo has 9 points (1G, 8A) and 24 penalty minutes in 63 games played with the Bruins this year.
Taken with the 37th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Carlo has played his entire NHL career with Boston, scoring 109 points (29G, 80A) in 617 games.
Additionally, he has 14 points (5G, 9A) in 72 career playoff games; he helped the Bruins reach the 2019 Stanley Cup Final.
Carlo will not only give Toronto the stay-at-home defender they need alongside Morgan Rielly, but the fact he's around for the next two seasons in his prime is a huge asset for Brad Treliving and the Leafs.
Losing Minten is painful however, Toronto had to make a move due to the rest of their division going hard at improving ahead of the playoffs, and the team couldn't be caught slacking.
For now, it looks like when the Maple Leafs take the ice on Saturday; they'll have a drastically different lineup come puck drop.
