The Boston Bruins have pulled off a stunning deal involving captain Brad Marchand, with the longtime Bruin headed to of all places; the Florida Panthers.

Per league sources, the Boston Bruins have a plan in place to send their captain and longtime staple of their roster Brad Marchand to their Atlantic Division rivals the Florida Panthers in a stunning trade that shakes the landscape of the NHL.
It's unknown what pieces are being exchanged beyond Marchand.
It brings Marchand's long tenure with the Bruins to an end as he spent his entire 16-year career with Boston. Winning a Stanley Cup in 2011, he's the last remnants of a once powerful dynasty that included names like Patrice Bergeron and Zdeno Chara.
A very consistent and reliable offensive star, Marchand has 976 points in 1090 games (422G, 554A) and will add to an already impressive Florida Panthers team with Sam Bennett, Aleksander Barkov, Matthew Tkachuk among many other top level players.
He also adds not only a lot of grit and a nuisance x-factor that gives teams headaches, Marchand will no doubt help Florida in their quest to repeat as Cup champions, and the recent additions of Marchand and Seth Jones put them as clear favorites in the Eastern Conference.
It's not yet known what is going to head to the Bruins but for their captain, the package has to have at least some impact.
It has been reported the return for Marchand is a conditional 2nd round pick.
Marchand heading to Florida is quite possibly the most stunning trade of the deadline, as even though Mikko Rantanen was the biggest name, no one really foresaw Boston throwing in the towel and trading everyone away.
If you thought Florida was a pain to play against before, adding a player like Marchand makes their team not only frustrating to play against offensively, now you have a notoriously pesky Marchand skating around causing chaos.
To say that some weren't too happy about Florida improving is an understatement as NHL Analyst Paul Bissonnette (an unabashed Leafs fan) looked like he had just heard the worst news of his life as details of the trade broke.
Bissonnette's reaction echoes not only all the fans, but now the future players who look at the Panthers lineup going forward.
