The Oilers Reportedly Have Their Eyes Set On An All-Star Defenseman
The Nashville Predators shocked the hockey world when they traded Tanner Jeannot to the Tampa Bay Lightning for a massive return involving Cal Foote and many draft picks. Now, it seems they're preparing for another big trade with the Edmonton Oilers.
According to Darren Dreger, the Oilers are interested by Mattias Ekholm.
Ekholm, 30, has been a key player for the Predators for many years and has become a fan favorite. His strong two-way game makes him very attractive for the Oilers.
Nashville's recent trade of Tanner Jeannot shows that they are not afraid to make big moves. They could however be looking for a substantial return in exchange for Ekholm, possibly including multiple draft picks and/or prospects.
If the trade were to go through, it would be a significant move for both teams. The Oilers would get a much-needed boost to their defensive corps, while the Predators would add valuable assets to their already impressive prospect pool.
