Rumor: Top Favorite Emerges For A William Nylander Trade
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been in a sticky situation with William Nylander. His contract is up at the end of the year and he can walk for nothing. This has led to many different trade proposals.
Islanders In On Nylander
The New York Islanders are rumored to be interested in William Nylander. The Islanders are looking to get back to the Stanley Cup contenders they were a few years ago. William Nylander would be a great addition in the pursuit.
According to one source named Eklund, the Islanders have become the favorite to scoop Nylander. The package would potentially include Jean-Gabriel Pageau.
Mock Trade
With these details in mind, a mock trade has been put together between the two sides. Here are the details:
To New York: William Nylander
To Toronto: Jean-Gabriel Pageau, 2024 First Round Pick, Danny Nelson
The Islanders get their guy to help them be competitive with the group they have. William Nylander immediately becomes one of their best forwards along with Mathew Barzal.
In this trade, the Leafs get a player that will help them compete in Pageau along with two future assets. The 2024 NHL Draft is projected to be good but not great. Danny Nelson was a second-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft that will be heading to Notre Dame.
