With the Toronto Maple Leafs likely to trade one of their core four ahead of next season. Many insiders believe it could be William Nylander, Mitch Marner, or even Auston Matthews.
A user on Capfriendly.com came up with a great trade proposal that could possibly work for the Leafs sending William Nylander along with Connor Timmins, and Boston's 2023 1st round pick to the Calgary Flames.
In return the Flames would send Elias Lindholm, Rasmus Andersson, and a 2023 2nd round pick to Toronto.
This would definitely be a monster trade. With Auston Matthews having one year left on his current contract the Leafs will need to save enough cap space to pay him his expected $13-$15 million dollar annual salary.
Nylander has one year left on his current contract and will be looking for a significant raise as well, and the Leafs definitely can't afford to keep them both.
Nylander's father played for the Flames, and he was born in the city. Could he be the star player of their next generation?
