Insider Shares Spoiler Alert On Maple Leafs Trade Deadline Plans
Even if the season hasn't started yet, some are already starting to make plans for the next trade deadline.
Leafs' Upcoming Season
Chris Johnston, host of The Chris Johnston Show, started by talking about his uncertainties about the Leafs' blue line:
"I believe they're going to be a playoff team again. They seem to have high ambitions, but when I look at the blue line, especially with the addition of John Klingberg, I'm uncertain about how all those pieces will fit together. I'm not sure how those defensive pairs will gel, and I think it's going to be a challenge for Keefe and the coaching staff."
A lot of people think the Leafs' blue line isn't good enough, and Johnston thinks so too.
Leafs' Plans
According to Johnston, Brad Treliving will make many changes before the deadline:
"The roster that shows up for camp on September 20th is likely going to look quite different by the trade deadline. I suspect the Leafs will be proactive, seeking upgrades and making changes if something isn't working. We'll have to wait and see how these new players integrate into the team."
Of course, if everything goes well in the season, they might not change much. But still, even if they're at the top of the Atlantic Division, adding at least one defenseman wouldn't hurt.
Also, the whole William Nylander situation remains unclear, but a trade involving him could be possible.
