Insider Reveals Blockbuster Trade is Looming in Toronto
Two top Canadian teams are involved in the latest blockbuster trade rumor!
Leafs and Flames Working on Blockbuster Trade?
Brad Treliving has a special connection with the Flames, having been their former General Manager. Now occupying the same role in Toronto, he could be looking to bring some of his old players to the Leafs.
The renowned Eklund reported:
"The Leafs are interested in Hanifin and Mangiapane. The Flames are keen on Knies, Nylander, Liljegren, and a few prospects... Those are the names I've heard. Chances are we aren't talking about all those names, but some combination of them."
The Scenario
Let's start by removing Matthew Knies from the scenario; the Leafs won't trade him, even for a big return. They have high hopes for the rookie to have an impact on the ice this season in Toronto. Don't be surprised if he stays with the organization for a long time.
If the Leafs decide to make a trade, chances are Nylander, Liljegren, or prospects will be involved.
Of course, Nylander's the favorite to move. Several teams would be interested if they decide to place him on the trade block. Can Calgary make the best offer?
As we saw last season, getting Nazem Kadri and Jonathan Huberdeau wasn't enough to win. They need more offensive talent, and Nylander has a lot of it.
The price would be high, evidently. However, they have an advantage: the Leafs need a good defenseman, and they have one that's ready to go in Noah Hanifin.
Would you make the following trade?
To Calgary:
Nylander and Liljegren
To Toronto:
Hanifin (50% retained)
