Hershey Bears and Bridgeport Islanders ruin tradition
The Teddy Bear Toss is one of the best traditions in hockey. Originating in the early 90s, it has expanded to almost all major junior and AHL teams.
One question mark around it has always been it a team were to be shutout. This question was answered last night as the Hershey Bears were shutout 2-0 by the Bridgeport Islanders.
Instead of waiting for direction, fans began to throw their teddy bears with about nine seconds left. The officials decided to end the game with five seconds left on the clock as teddy bears would get in the way of play.
While I'm sure the Hershey Bears aren't thrilled with their effort, it's hard not to see the humour in a situation like this one!
