David Pagnotta gave everyone a bit of a clearer idea regarding Kiefer Sherwood's future contract, and teams pursuing him are going to be in for big surprise.

Not necessarily a household name, Kiefer Sherwood is starting to make his name known around the NHL, not only for his uber-physical nature, but his goal-scoring prowess that has emerged this season.
Having nine goals through his first 15 games, he's been a bright spot for a middling Canucks team and his physical presence is still apparent, with 67 hits through those games.
But he's an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, and that means that either the Canucks or another team is going to have to pay him for his services, but the question becomes -- what is that price?

Insider Shocked by the Price Tag Kiefer Sherwood's Earned This Fast

According to NHL Insider David Pagnotta in a recent article for The Fourth Period, that price is only going to go up if he continues this torrid pace, and that means he's going to cost a pretty penny; over triple what he currently makes:
The Vancouver Canucks have not yet spoken with Kiefer Sherwood's camp about an extension, but the price tag is climbing with each passing game.

Speaking with various league sources this week, Sherwood's price tag may start with a 5, as in his next AAV may be in the $5 million range if he keeps producing offensively and physically this season.

While his current pace is extremely unlikely (48 goals and 361 hits) he may get close to that hit total which not only would drive up his price more but knowing that you have someone who you can count on in any situation at both ends of the ice.
Especially when he's doing things like this:

How Kiefer Sherwood Turned Hits and Hustle Into a Multi-Million Dollar Pay Day

It's not too often you find a player who can give you 200+ hits consistently, and you certainly aren't going to find one who hits 400+. Sherwood had an incredible 462 hits last season, and 234 the year previously.
At only $1.5-million currently it might be the best bang for your buck when it comes to contract to value ratio; he's absolutely dominating and is nearly halfway to his 2024-25 goal total.
To put that into perspective, he would be making more per season than Toronto's John Tavares; a player who just hit his 500th career goal earlier this season.
You can put him on any line and he'll find success, and he can truly change the game whether it be on the scoresheet or with his punishing hits.
If Sherwood were to hit 25+ goals he would be one of only a handful of players who has 25+ goals and 150+ hits; an elite group actually.
That's going to make him one of the most expensive free agents in terms of valuation, as he tripled his current rate and is going to earn potentially even more.
From league-minimum three years ago to a potential massive pay raise, things are looking fantastic for the gritty forward.
Get your bag, Kiefer Sherwood. You deserve it.
