This summer, Johnny Gaudreau surprised everyone by testing the free agent market. He also refused the Flames' offer of $10.5 million and accepted the Blue Jackets' offer of $9.75 million.
Today, the player's parents said that Gaudreau would have liked to stay in Calgary, but the club had made him a ridiculous offer the summer before.
The summer before, if the Flames had offered him something close to what he was worth, Johnny would have stayed in Calgary for the next eight years, it wouldn't have been a problem. The Flames offered him a contract, but it wasn't even close to his value... It was a joke. He was really, really embarrassed."
It is now clearer why Johnny Gaudreau chose to leave Calgary.
