The Toronto Maple Leafs are months away from what will hopefully be a deep playoff run.
While they've been unable to get past the first round so far, their core is very strong, and their odds are looking good.
While the players are the people giving the Leafs success, they wouldn't be here without GM Kyle Dubas.
Dubas has turned this team around into a contender, and he is probably the most valuable piece the team has. Despite this, he doesn't have a contract for next season.
Arguably he has been one of the best GMs in the league. When he sign William Nylander he got a lot of hate but look at 88 now. Just amazing!
It's understandable why Brendan Shanahan and ownership is weary of giving Dubas an extension, as the Leafs haven't had true playoff success, but if the Leafs don't give him a deal, we're sure another team will.
