According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Buffalo Sabres have traded forward Sam Reinhart to the Florida Panthers in exchange for goaltending prospect Devon Levi and a draft pick.
Reinhart, 25, has spent his entire seven-year NHL career with the Sabres after they selected him second overall in the 2014 draft. The Vancouver, BC native was one of the only bright spots on a weak Sabres team this season. In 54 games, he had 40 points (25 G, 15 A), 10 penalty minutes, and was a -28. He's set to become a restricted free agent.
The deal will be official after a trade call with the NHL. Neither Florida GM Bill Zito or Buffalo GM Kevyn Adams would comment on the trade last night.
The #FlaPanthers reportedly are getting Sam Reinhart from the #Sabres for goalie prospect Devon Levi and next year's first-round pick. Perhaps more to come. If it goes down, Panthers will have 3 of 4 top picks from 2014. https://t.co/oPxDnwXXJS— George Richards (@GeorgeRichards) July 24, 2021
When this is done, believe G Devon Levi will be part of the return for BUF— Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) July 24, 2021
