According to Sportsnet reporter and insider Elliotte Friedman, expect Savard to arrive in Montreal in the next few days.

In a radio interview with an Edmonton station today, Friedman said that barring a major turnaround, the rugged right-handed defenseman from Quebec will sign with the Habs.

"As far as David Savard is concerned, unless someone contradicts me I think he'll sign with Montreal. I think the Habs would like to have him as a replacement for Shea Weber... He's obviously not the same player as Weber but I predict he'll sign in Montreal."

- Elliotte Friedman

David Savard is 30 years old and is 6'2"/233lbs. He had 1 goal and 5 assists for 6 points in 54 games with the Blue Jackets and Lightning last season. He added 5 points in 20 playoff games to help his team win the Stanley Cup.
The unrestricted free agent market will open in a few days on July 28.

More details will follow.
