Serious talks with Letang had not yet begun, sources told PHN last week. Ironically, Letang's former agent Kent Hughes is now the Canadiens' GM.
The Canadiens are not on Letang's wish list, according to sources. His new agent, Phil Lecavalier, told PHN he hoped to start serious talks soon. It also impacts the team's future and trade needs, as suitable replacements for Letang.
Yesterday, it was the turn of popular Pittsburgh journalist Dan Kingerski to reveal new information.
According to his sources, Kent Hughes would ask, in exchange for Petry :
A second round pick and a good prospect.
He believes the Penguins and veteran defenseman are a perfect match. He wants Sidney Crosby's team to make this acquisition. As reported by Christian Matte of Marqueur.com, Kingerski, who covers the Penguins for Pittsburgh Hockey Now, goes even further.
He's throwing out a trade proposal outright. Considering Kent Hughes' asking price for Petry, he suggests the Penguins offer this:
Defenseman Pierre-Olivier Joseph + a 2nd round pick.
What do you think of this trade?
