Like the Montreal Canadiens, the Vegas Golden Knights' season could soon turn into a drama. With only four games left in their season, the Nevada team is currently out of the playoffs after losing to the Habs in the Stanley Cup semi-finals last season.
After a rather questionable trade that sent Marc-Andre Fleury to the Chicago Blackhawks, Robin Lehner was named number one goalie. However, his performances have not been up to the standard of an elite NHL goalie.
Recently, the Swedish goalie has been under fire from fans, creating a jersey ridiculing him, and even from upper management. Last Wednesday against the Washington Capitals, he was pulled after allowing only one goal on 13 shots.
After this unfortunate situation, Lehner would have made the decision to end his season in order to have surgery for a knee injury, according to Elliotte Friedman. However, the Golden Knights denied this rumor, trying to convince the number 90 to reconsider his decision.
With the recent abuse he has received, getting this decision changed, if true, could be very difficult. Insiders even speak of an uncertain agreement between the two parties for the future.
