For the first time since he was traded to Montreal, forward Sean Monahan was back in Calgary, where it all began in 2013.
While many consider Sean Monahan's value to be quite high on the trade market, the Habs would not be interested in trading him, according to TSN's Pierre LeBrun.
"Recall that the reason the Montreal Canadiens made this trade in August was because a first-round pick was tied to the acquisition of Sean Monahan from the Calgary Flames. That's what the Canadiens got. And it seemed almost a foregone conclusion that the Canadiens would turn around and trade Monahan before the March 3 trade deadline and get another piece.
"But here's the interesting thing. Monahan has played well. He's adapted well on and off the ice. The Canadiens have been impressed with him and what's going on right now is the Canadiens' management is talking about whether they should keep this guy. Could he be part of the CH's plans for the future? I still think it's more likely they'll transfer him, but just the fact that they're having this discussion is an interesting development." -Pierre LeBrun
The 28-year-old Monahan has 16 points in 23 games this season.
