Pat Maroon is one of the most well-respected players in the league. He has some truly elite playoff pedigree, having won three consecutive Stanley Cups, and he is a joy to have in any locker room.
Two nights ago, Jack Edwards, a broadcaster in Boston made comments on Maroon's weight during the play-by-play. Maroon is one of the biggest players in the league, but it was entirely uncalled for.
-
In immediate response, Maroon put out an inspiring tweet spreading messages about mental health and body image.
-
He pledged to donate $2,000 to the charity Tampa Bay Thrives in the name of Edwards. He encourage others to donate as well.
-
Now Maroon has raised $50,000 for the charity. The epitome of turning something negative into a positive.
Maroon rightfully gained a lot of fans through his charitable and uplifting handling of this incident, and hopefully broadcasters like Edwards will be more cognizant of what they say in the future.

Should Jack Edwards be fired for these tasteless comments?
