Paul Maurice Accuses Officials of Rigging Games Against the Panthers
Paul Maurice's time in Florida has been far from a fairy tale.
The reigning presidents trophy winners, the team is still deep in the outside looking in regarding the playoff picture.
With the eastern conference being as strong as it is, every win is paramount for the Panthers, as their playoff hopes get slimmer by every loss.
Paul Maurice, clearly disturbed by this opted to blame the officials for Florida's most recent loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Leafs won 5-4 in overtime, in a penalty-rich game. With ten combined man advantages, seven went to Toronto - this didn't go unnoticed by Maurice.
After the game he made his thoughts very clear:
Well, it'll always be penalties that you take in the game you earn, and there's a whole bunch of (penalties) you're not gonna like it all. I thought we had the inordinate share of those.
I don't know what the hell those guys were doing tonight. But it wasn't Florida Pantherfriendly.
During the game, he was equally filmed having a true freak-out at a call he disagreed with:
Going further, he added this comment:
I just explained to 'em, it had nothing to do with my players; it had to do with me and a relationship that I have with one of the referees. That's what that was all about. So, just go out, keep your mouth shut, and play the game.
So in a roundabout way, he did ultimately blame himself. What a complete and utter mess in South Florida.
