NHL Insider Sets Record Straight on Toronto Maple Leafs Trade Rumour
Each day as we inch closer to the trade deadline, rumors will keep sprouting up no matter how ridiculous. The Toronto Maple Leafs are one team, who seems to be included in these no matter what.
The latest rumor that surfaced involved a Vancouver Canuck, who most likely isn't on anyone's shortlist.
But according to one NHL insider, there's no truth to this rumor.
Elliote Friedman appeared on The Jeff Marek show and was quick to shut down that rumor.
"That is not happening, earlier in season there was Myers talk, not now. Toronto is looking for a forward, not a defenseman."
This makes sense, given the fact that Myers is too expensive for the Leafs with a $6 Million dollar cap hit. Myers is also a bottom-pairing defenseman and if the team were to make a slight upgrade, it'd be Luke Schenn whose contract is easily moveable at $850K and a strong presence on the right side.
Right now Kyle Dubas is interested in forwards and the with the big pieces already moved, Leaf fans need a little bit more patience to see what he will deliver again to the organization.
