In a bizarre turn of events, it appears that Minnesota Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov could return to the KHL for the 2021-22 season.
According to NHL Network's Kevin Weekes, talks have gone silent between Kaprizov's camp and the Wild. Weekes added that he believes Kaprizov is in Moscow and CSKA Moscow is interested in signing him for next season.
"As of now talks with likely Rookie of the yr Kaprizov & @mnwild have gone cold. My understanding is he's in Moscow and it's believed CSKA is interested in signing him for KHL & Olympics." Weekes said in a tweet on Friday evening.
Kaprizov, 24, had a great rookie season with Minnesota. In 55 games, he recorded 51 points (27 G, 24 A), 16 penalty minutes, and was a +10. In 7 playoff games, he tallied 3 points (2 G, 1 A), and had 4 penalty minutes.
Prior to coming to the NHL, he spent three seasons with CSKA Moscow where he had 78 goals in 160 regular season games.
