Domi signed a one-year, $3 million deal with Toronto in the off-season, as it has always been a dream of his to play for the Maple Leafs, like his father did.
It would be expected that the number one cheerleader for Max Domi, who would be a Maple Leafs alumni, would be his father, Tie. However, when saying "Hall of Fame" player, it obviously means a player with more prowess.
During his 18-year career, Sundin amassed 1349 total points, and he spent 13 of those years with Toronto. He is Toronto's all-time leader in points (987) and goals (420). The praise is obviously high.
By only signing a one-year deal, Domi leaves the door open to either remaining in Toronto or signing somewhere else once the season is over. Domi has indicated in the past that he would like to remain in Toronto for as long as he can.
