Jimmy Murphy of Montreal Hockey Now reports that according to a reliable NHL source, Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes has been knocking on the Islanders' door to inquire about the availability of winger Anthony Beauvillier.

« More than one NHL source has confirmed to NYI Hockey Now that New York Islanders winger Anthony Beauvillier is on the NHL trade market as general manager Lou Lamoriello attempts to clear cap space needed to finally sign unrestricted free agent Nazem Kadri.

After learning this from NYI Hockey Now Islanders senior reporter Stefen Rosner, Montreal Hockey Now did some research and discovered via a reliable NHL source that the Montreal Canadiens are one of several teams interested in acquiring the Sorel-Tracy, Quebec native.

According to this source, there have been at least exploratory discussions about Beauvillier [...]" - Jimmy Murphy

In fact, Murphy says that Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello would refuse to take salary in return, which could certainly cause a problem for the Habs, who are already maxed out on payroll.
Would you do it? Trade a prospect or pick for the Quebec forward?
Anthony Beauvillier, 25, had 34 points (12 goals) in 75 games with the Islanders in 2021-22.
His salary is $4.15M annually through 2024.
