The League changes and the rule book also has to be revised every year. Since the arrival of high definition, the camera shots are sensational and give the teams a chance to challenge.
Referees also have the right to ask for a second opinion. An important change to the rule book has therefore been implemented.
When a major penalty is awarded, referees could go to the video replay, after which they had two choices. Leave the penalty as is, or reduce it to a two-minute minor penalty.
Well, there will be a third option for officials from this season onwards, which is to completely nullify the offence to the player who is not at fault.
This is great news, as referees can't see everything on the ice and some injustices can be avoided.
