Lou Lamoriello Caught Illegally Tampering in the Bo Horvat Trade
Lou Lamoriello shocked everybody when he acquired Bo Horvat earlier this week.
It was a monstrous deal, with a first round pick, a top-prospect in Aatu Raty, and a young NHLer in Anthony Beauvillier.
It was very surprising when Horvat revealed that there had been no extension talks with the Islanders in his post-trade media conference.
Pierre LeBrun said this for Vancouver's side:
One of the sticking points from some teams who were interested in going further down the road on trade talks regarding Horvat was that the Canucks did not give permission to the player's camp to talk extension with other teams.
However, insiders believe that Lamoriello would've only pulled the trigger on the deal had an extension been all but signed.
This implies that Lamoriello and the Islanders might have done some tampering with Horvat's camp. This isn't unheard of, and it probably happens even more than we think, but this case is especially obvious.
There likely won't be any punishment for this, but Lamoriello should try to keep his dealings a little less public!
