While the damage may already be done, Trevor Zegras can finally sleep easy knowing his biggest controversy has been debunked.

After being under fire for supposedly bringing up Troy Stecher's deceased father in a scrum, Zegras lost a lot of fans. There is a line where words become more than just passionate hockey-playing.

Now, an insider has revealed exactly what went down between the Ducks and the Coyotes.

So, it appears that Zegras was referencing Stecher's long-term girlfriend, and not his father. This is still beyond the line that should be crossed, but not as bad as what he was initially accused of.

Hopefully Zegras learns his lesson here, both about his behavior, and about the viral nature of hockey culture.
