Today has been a whirlwind of news. Connor Timmins' freshly minted two-year extension faded into irrelevancy quickly when the New York Rangers acquired Vladimir Tarasenko from the St-Louis Blues.

This only made the Eastern Conference stronger, as both the Islanders and Rangers have brought in big-name players. Kyle Dubas, on the other hand, doesn't seem pressed to make a big move. In an interview today, he revealed two things.

The first is that the team is confident with their goaltending tandem of Ilya Samsonov and Matt Murray. They'll be pursuing movements at forward and defense instead.

The other is that the team isn't expecting to trade their first-round pick or any of their top prospects.

This news can be interpreted in many ways, but two come to mind in particular. It could simply be not wanting to be exploited by a sellers market, but it could also be a sign that management doesn't believe in this group. With every other team trading firsts and prospects to contend, there shouldn't be anything different about the Leafs.

All that really matters is that they're successful in the playoffs, since if they aren't, Dubas' job is on the line.
