Since the Patrick Kane trade rumours started, all the way back in 2020-21, the New York Rangers have been at the forefront of the conversation.
It seemed inevitable that Showtime would end up with the Blueshirts, but with the Rangers acquiring Vladimir Tarasenko today, the Kane possibility was essentially squashed.
We already knew that the asking price on Kane was high, but it has now been revealed that that isn't the only reason GM's have gone in other directions.
Kane's hip is a long-standing issue, and any GM dishing out this many assets isn't stoked to be acquiring an injury risk.

Tarasenko was perfect for the Rangers, who didn't have to overpay, and acquired a replacement defender for Libor Hajek in Niko Mikkola.
-
Absolute coup for the Rangers, and terrible news for the Blackhawks.
