At the last World Junior Championship, where Canada won gold, Shane Wright was a bit overshadowed by the great performances of his teammates. He only collected seven points in as many games.
That doesn't mean the forward wasn't essential to his team. Canada's assistant coach Stephane Julien told BPM Sports that Wright has been one of the team's great leaders.
After Canada's first game against the Czech Republic, the player had a message for his teammates.
"After the game, he stood up in the room and he too said it: the Michigan, it's OVER! - Stephane Julien"
Let's remember that the Canadian team lost that game by a score of 5-2. Connor Bedard and Adam Fantilli had tried to score in this way, which did not result in a goal.
The players listened to their captain and it finally ended well for the team.
