Following the Stanley Cup Final, Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price surprisingly announced that he would be joining the NHL's player assistance program.
In an interview with Arpon Basu of The Athletic, he explained his downward spiral.
"I knew I was getting to the 18th hole. I wasn't happy, I wasn't a good father. I was drinking a lot. I got to the point where I realized I wasn't enjoying it anymore. I was getting to the point where I had to make a choice."
Number 31 explained the reason for announcing this therapy publicly.
"I could have done it all in private and no one would have known. Maybe I could have stopped on my own. But I wanted to show that it's OK to ask for help.
"Substance abuse is a very big issue in First Nations communities. I have friends and family members who have died from it."
Well done, that's a credit to him!
