Cale Makar is one of the best players in the league. He's coming off a 23-year-old season where he won the Norris trophy for the best defenseman, a Stanley Cup, and the Conn Smythe trophy as playoff MVP.
This season, it appears he has another trophy in his sights.
In the Avalanche's game against the New York Islanders, Makar appeared to have been tripped by May Barzal. While the Avalanche are suffering from several injuries, and could probably use a good power play opportunity, Makar immediately waved down the referee to tell him it wasn't Barzal's fault.
It takes a truly classy player to do something like this. Makar will not only have an amazing career on the stat sheets, but he will clearly be a well-respected player in this league.
