The Government of Canada has withdrawn the two problematic amendments concerning assault weapons.
The purpose of these amendments was to better define the assault weapons banned in Canada, but to restrict the possession of semi-automatic firearms models with a detachable magazine and that can hold more than five rounds.
In total, more than 3000 firearms would have been banned in Canada.
