Florida Panthers' Sam Bennett was fined $5,000 for the dangerous cross-check on Michael Bunting during the last game in Toronto.

Now, many people, including Sheldon Keefe, are calling out the NHL for their inconsistency.

Sheldon Keefe Calls Out Blatant Referee Bias Following Bennett's Fine

Last year, during the outdoor game between the Maple Leafs and the Buffalo Sabres, Auston Matthews was suspended for two games for his cross-check on Rasmus Dahlin :

During a press conference, Sheldon Keefe mentioned the similarity between this incident and the one involving Bennett and Bunting.

Here's what he said:

"Sheldon Keefe says the Sam Bennett cross-check on Michael Bunting is 'eerily similar' to the one that earned Auston Matthews a two-game suspension last season (against Rasmus Dahlin in the Heritage Classic)."

Players, coaches, and fans have been asking for one thing for years ; consistency in the calls on the ice and the suspensions.

This issue will likely continue, as no major changes concerning officiating are planned in the NHL.

Do you think Bennett should have been suspended instead of fined?
