BREAKING: Massive update regarding Jake Guentzel
Some major news for the Pittsburgh Penguins came out of today's practice concerning Jake Guentzel.
Major Update on Guentzel's Health After Offseason Injury
Guentzel has been struggling with an ankle injury since the end of last season, and he had to undergo surgery over the summer.
Good news: he was on the ice today!
"Jake Guentzel (offseason ankle surgery) is on the ice for Penguins practice at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex wearing a white no-contact jersey. We LOVE to see it."
Kyle Dubas also revealed that Guentzel could miss the first two weeks of the season, which isn't much considering the Pens only have five games scheduled in that span.
Missing only five games would be the ideal scenario, but nothing's confirmed at this point. The Pens will wait until he's 100% ready before putting him in the lineup, and if it takes more time, then that's what will happen.
