Arber Xhekaj Runs into Referee in Fiery Outburst to Defend Goalie After Shove
Last night, in the Montreal Canadiens and the Florida Panthers, a major incident unfolded when Evan Rodrigues of the Panthers entered in a violent collision with the Canadiens' goalie Samuel Montembeault.
Panthers' Evan Rodrigues Enters in Collision with Samuel Montembeault and Hides from Arber Xhekaj Behind a Referee
During the third period, Samuel Montembeault left his zone to prevent Rodrigues from going on a breakaway. The Panthers' player landed directly on Montembeault.
Xhekaj, the Canadiens' enforcer, wasn't happy about the hit, and jumped on Rodrigues, who hid behind a referee to avoid fighting him.
Check out how it happened:
The referee probably saved Rodrigues from a few bruises as Xhekaj looked like he had only one thing in mind: avenging his goalie.
This shows Xhekaj's team spirit and highlights Rodrigues' cowardice. Even if the collision might be accidental, Rodrigues should've stood up for himself instead of hiding behind a referee.
