Winnipeg Jets Consider Major Trade to Shake Up Core Roster
The Winnipeg Jets look poised for a deep run this year. The emergence of Josh Morrissey as a legitimate #1 defenseman, and Kyle Connor continuing to produce exceptionally have made this Jets team truly dangerous.
Despite the success, changes are coming in Winnipeg. With Pierre-Luc Dubois already having one foot out the door for 2024 free agency, and Mark Scheifele having no particular allegiance to the Peg, their core is disappearing in front of their eyes.
Former captain Blake Wheeler is equally on the tail end of his career, and can no longer be considered a core piece. With this in mind, the Jets have become a frontrunner for Timo Meier.
Jets Looking at Timo Meier
Not only would Meier boost the Jets for a playoff run in this campaign, but he could be a long-term piece added to the core with Kyle Connor and Josh Morissey.
This immediately makes the team much younger, and gives them a much longer cap-controlled contention window. Sounds like it would be a crafty piece of business by Kevin Chevyldayoff.
The only question is, can they pull it off?
