Some sad news to report, as Vancouver Canucks forward Dakota Joshua has just revealed he was diagnosed with testicular cancer.

In the 2023-24 season, lots of players made new breakthroughs, but few have made an impact quite like Dakota Joshua of the Vancouver Canucks. In 63 games, Joshua scored 18 goals and compiled 32 points. That's a career season for the forward. Due to high expectations of his performance next season, the hype has been increasing amongst Vancouver fans. But the other day, Joshua sent shockwaves when he announced on social media that he had just received a testicular cancer diagnosis.

Joshua announced via the Canucks' official accounts that he has been diagnosed with cancer, a development that will keep him out for training camp and possibly into the start of the season. Fortunately, the news came with a glimmer of hope. Following a successful surgery, the 28-year-old is in recovery, and thanks to early detection, there's optimism that he could make his return during the 2024-25 season.

That is just a good reminder that everyone, man or woman, needs to be cognizant of the warning signs of cancer. Obviously, things could have turned out much worse for Joshua, but thanks to his proactive approach and early intervention, he now has a fighting chance at rejoining the Canucks later this season.

We wish Dakota Joshua a speedy recovery and we are very glad this issue was caught on time. Here's hoping we see him on the ice this season.
