The Toronto Maple Leafs have added one veteran goaltender this season, and now, it appears they have now brought in another intriguing name in Jon Gillies via a PTO.

Last season, the goaltending ups and downs defined the Toronto Maple Leafs, but in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, despite the loss it was Joseph Woll who stepped up and established himself as the team's No. 1. This off-season, they confirmed that role as they brought in Anthony Stolarz as the backup of the team for 2024/25 as they finally look to push for a deep Stanley Cup Playoff run.

On top of that, they've got veteran Matt Murray waiting in the wings, but that hasn't stopped them from bringing in more competition, as they have now officially inked Jon Gillies on a PTO.

The 30-year old has played in 35 NHL games over his career, with the most recent season seeing him find three appearances with the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2022/23, while most of his time was spent in the AHL with the Tucson Roadrunners, tallying an .878 save percentage and a 3.70 GAA in 15 games played.

At this stage of his career, Gillies isn't going to be a starter or even a backup in the NHL, but with talent and experience, he could be a good depth option for the Maple Leafs, so keep a close eye on him as training camp begins.
