The 2024 NHL Draft was full of surprises, but none bigger than the Utah Hockey Club making their first splash, trading for Mikhail Sergachev to get themselves a top tier star on the blue line.
They followed that up with two more additions in John Marino and Tij Iginla in the first round, and now, the team are looking to add more firepower to potentially push for a playoff spot in their first season.
According to a recent reporter on social media, the newly formed Utah Hockey Club are now open to moving Victor Soderstrom, a former first-round pick of the Arizona Coyotes back in the 2019 NHL Draft.
Unfortunately for Arizona, Soderstrom, a 23-year old defenseman just failed to catch on in the NHL, and while he could be used as good depth in Utah, it appears moving him could be a way to add more proven NHL talent.
It's unclear at this point what they are willing to surrender to get a potential piece to help them make a playoff run, but after what we saw Bill Armstrong and the front office do at the NHL Draft, they will continue to be aggressive in pursuit of a Stanley Cup Playoffs appearance in year one.
