The Toronto Maple Leafs have tried hard to make some big moves this summer, and Brad Treliving may not be done with a trade of Timothy Liljegren incoming.
The focus of the Toronto Maple Leafs this summer has clearly been their defensive core, as they have added not only Chris Tanev, but also Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Jani Hakanpaa, although the latter hasn't yet been finalized. Now, a top insider has revealed that GM Brad Treliving could still be wheeling and dealing, with a trade of Timothy Liljegren still expected to occur.
"We'll see if Timothy Liljegren maybe still gets traded. I know he was signed to a 2-year extension, but I don't think you can entirely rule out a trade in his circumstance yet. They're still going to keep chipping away at the roster."
In 2023/24, had three goals and 23 points in 55 games played, and while he signed an extension, with the team wanting cap space and flexibility moving forward, these additions may make him expendable.
It's unclear when a trade could be coming, but with the 2024/25 regular season just a few months away, they need to make up their mind on Liljegren, so expect a final decision before training camp.
