UPDATE: Craig Berube has confirmed that William Nylander will play tonight for the Toronto Maple Leafs after not being at practice.

Steven Lorentz, who was on the Leafs second line in place of Nylander, will not appear tonight and will be a healthy scratch.
William Nylander is absent from the Toronto Maple Leafs for an unknown reason, according to multiple reports.
Following the Leafs last win against Nashville, Nylander is now absent ahead of tonight's game, with the reason for his absence unclear.
As well, the Leafs are getting an addition in Steven Lorentz, who may be nearing his return for Toronto.

William Nylander Missing From Morning Skate

Reporters from the Toronto Maple Leafs practice ahead of tonight's game vs the New York Rangers say that William Nylander is not on the ice with the team.
It's unknown why Nylander is absent. There was no apparent injury concern for Nylander following the Leafs 7-4 win Tuesday against the Nashville Predators.
Nylander was asked by head coach Craig Berube to pick up his offense, especially in terms of goals, having just two goals in his first four games with seven points. Nylander had a goal and three points vs Nashville.

Steven Lorentz Returns to Practice

Steven Lorentz has returned to the Leafs practice, currently participating on the second line in William Nylander's spot.
Lorentz was injured in the Leafs game against the Detroit Red Wings on Monday, not appearing against Nashville.
Lorentz took an awkward hit from Red Wings defenseman Ben Chiarot, which caused him to leave the game and miss Toronto's most recent match.
Unless Nylander is active for tonight's game, it would appear that Steven Lorentz will be filling in for Nylander in the top-six against New York.
Lorentz has appeared in just two games for the Maple Leafs this season, but has two points coming from the bottom-six.
With Tavares not practicing today, Easton Cowan is taking reps on the Leafs first power play unit along with Auston Matthews, John Tavares, and Matthew Knies.
An update from Leafs head coach Craig Berube is expected to come later today on why Nylander is unavailable, for now a mystery his sudden absence.
