Though the Maple Leafs came away with a 7-5 win over Ottawa on Saturday, they lost William Nylander however it may not be as bad as it first appeared.

Saturday night's game between Ottawa and Toronto turned into an absolute barnburner with a total of 12 goals scored, a ton of animosity, and capped off with a hugely passionate Troy Stecher trying to hype the crowd up after their win.
But it wasn't all great as the Maple Leafs lost William Nylander during the game after he bumped knees with Drake Batherson:
Nylander went to the dressing room and did not return which is a massive blow to the team's momentum, and a big hit to their offense and it felt like the Maple Leafs had taken one step forward, and now two steps back.

Nylander to make road trip after suffering injury vs. Ottawa

Though it's not exactly hopeless according to Craig Berube.
Speaking to reporters after Toronto's win on Saturday, Berube explained that Nylander will be making the trip to Detroit for Sunday's game however stopped short of saying he'll be good enough to play:
That's a great sign considering Nylander has been outstanding the last two games. After a four-point game against Pittsburgh, it only took him 18 seconds to score; on the power play no less:
If Nylander is able to play for the team on Sunday night, it's hopeful that he won't be affected too badly. The last time Nylander was in a game when he wasn't 100% he was largely ineffective. If he isn't feeling confident, perhaps Toronto should be a little more careful with him.
Nylander, 29, has 41 points in 33 games so far this year (14 goals, 27 assists) and leads the team in points and assists, and sits second in goals scored.
For the Maple Leafs, they are going to need him to be on top of his game to help take down the Detroit Red Wings, though if everyone plays as passionately and hard as they did on Saturday; they could be looking at a three-game win streak by the end of the night.
