The Toronto Maple Leafs had a relatively quiet trade deadline this year. Considering how few assets Brad Treliving had to work with, that is not all that surprising. However, one of the players that they did add has already expressed his excitement in joining the team.
Technically, Joel Edmundson was not a trade deadline day acquisition as the Leafs finalized his deal yesterday. He arrived in time to play in the team's game against the Bruins, but Sheldon Keefe had him sit it out as a transition period. However, this did not stop him from talking to the media about what the trade was like for him and what he thinks he can bring to the team.
While the Leafs did not have the resources to make a major move likely, they still geared up for the playoffs. First-year Leafs general manager Brad Treliving gave himself some injury insurance by adding multiple defenseman. Hopefully it will be enough to keep the team healthy for the remainder of the season.
