Marner went viral earlier today when he was seen having lunch with new Leafs head coach Craig Berube.
The move surprised many Leafs fans, who are expecting the team to trade Marner. After all, he has consistently been in trade rumors since the offseason started. If that were the case though, why would the team want him to have private time with a coach he won't play for? This is the logic behind Chris Johnston's theory, where he says maybe the Leafs pulled this stunt on purpose.
Hayes, Noodles, O-Dog and @reporterchris discuss the viral image of Mitch Marner and Craig Berube from last week circulating around the internet.
Perhaps the team is trying to subtly show their fans that Mitch isn't going anywhere. Perhaps it is a direct response to Barry Trotz, who is reportedly interested in Marner, but shot down rumors that he was actively pursuing the Leafs superstar.
Could this mean that Berube will get a chance to take the core-four on a deep playoff run? Hopefully for the Leafs faithful, the team will finally figure things out under new leadership.
